Abstract

The following article aims to analyze the daily life of the Guarany Gunboat, addressing issues of hierarchy, discipline and military food in the Navy, considering the activities, social relations and actions of officers and soldiers. As a way to understand the social relations on board the warship, we analyzed the ship's books and some periodicals that circulated in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In the research, we also sought to identify the types of diet of officers and soldiers, cultural conflicts and rituals related to food and the routine of the aforementioned gunboat. As the main methodological reference, we used the notion of Carlo Ginzburg's evidential paradigm to investigate the details of the documents, in order to elucidate the events already mentioned.
